At NCFTR, our mission is to develop exceptional educators who want to make this work become their career. We combine the proven methods of Xavier University of Louisiana’s Master’s Degree program with mentorship and on-the-job coaching to ensure our Residents are equipped to support students’ success in school and in life.
Residents are selected through an intensive application process and matched to an elementary, middle, or high school based on their desires and schools’ needs. As pre-service teacher candidates, residents pursue a Master’s degree while receiving on-the-job development from a mentor teacher at their school.
The Residency is a first-of-its-kind partnership not only in New Orleans, but nationally.
We are looking for a talented, diverse cohort of 30 residents who will commit to teach in a partner school for at least four years. This cohort will include people who have recently graduated from college and people making a career change. Above all, it will include motivated individuals with a passion for education and a desire to learn and grow.
